Moving in Chattanooga Rain Without Soaking Your Boxes
Practical steps for protecting floors, cartons, furniture and the truck path during a rainy Chattanooga move.
A rainy forecast does not always require a new moving date. It does require a shorter path between the home and truck, protected floors and boxes that are fully closed. Check the hourly forecast the evening before and again in the morning.
Move cars away from the entrance and choose the doorway with the best cover. Use floor runners inside rather than loose towels, which can bunch underfoot. Keep a dry towel near the door for wet equipment.
Tape the center seam and both edge seams on the bottom of each box. Close the top the same way. Do not leave open baskets or overfilled cartons exposed to rain. Plastic covers can protect upholstered furniture during the short trip outside.
Keep doors closed between trips and direct each load immediately to its room. This reduces wet traffic through the home. For local planning around slopes, parking and weather, see our Chattanooga moving guide.
